ScarabArt Gallery opened on May 1, 2008 in space number 97 in the Sunset Center Mall in Amarillo (see below).  Mrs. Ann Crouch had received the property, which had fallen into disrepair and was essentially abandoned) at the time of her husband's death.

Being both an astute businesswoman and a fine artist herself, she set about the daunting task of converting and evolving the mall into an artist community.  In only a few years the Center has come to fruition  with over fifty artists' galleries representing over one hundred artists.

Visitors to the Center can find fine painting, ceramics, weaving, sculpture and photography represented.

The Galleries at Sunset Center is located at 3701 Plains Blvd in Amarillo Texas

First Friday Art Walk

A tradition that has been in place since the opening of the Sunset Center as an art community, the First Friday Art Walk has become a staple of the Amarillo community and one that is especially appreciated by both artists and collectors.

From five pm until nine pm almost all the galleries (and remember, there are over fifty) are open to the public.  The main Sunset Gallery, owned and run by Mrs. Crouch hosts a buffet with wine and (usually) margaritas free to attendees.  Many other galleries in the mall also make available food and wine.  There is always music and sometimes other entertainments such as juggler and performance art.  Everything is free, unless you decide to buy some artworks...and obviously we hope you do!!
